can i possibly have appendicitis?
my backs been hurting for about 3 days and for the past 2 days, i'm getting sharp pain by my appendix and it feels like a balloon. i have a 100.3 fever and a migraine. my appetite is less than average though. i've been to the er with a different pain in the same area, but a different location, and they only found a ovarian cyst on the other side and didn't even pay attention to the right side... so anyone knows what this is? my moms a nurse, but she just had injections and wont help me. i also know this isn't the flu, because i just got over swine flu last week. i am not pregnant.

- appendicitis is one of the most painful things you will ever experience.
- could be appendicitis (if its the lower right part of your belly) or another cyst, just from the other side of the ovary. the fever points more towards your appendix. if you have nausea/vomitting go to the ER b/c then it probably is your appendix.
- i had appendicitis. ok well my right side hurt like almost cramping and i didnt eat cuz my stomach hurt.. um.. well what happens is if it is inflamed (which idk if it is) and it gets worse, it can burst and cause bad problems. i would go to the doctor again and ask to get an x-ray or its something else that i got i forgot what it was called but say you think u have apendicitis and ya...but if ur really worried that u do, u need to go to the doctor soon!
- If your stomach goes hard to the feel then it probably is
- That sounds like appendicitis, I had it when I was 12. If it's your lower right side of the back it's a definite possibility. If your fever gets worse you should get to ER immediately
- My daughter has had a similar expierence, after they did all sorts of testing on her (which all came back negative) she was finely taken to surgery and had her appendix taken out, only to find out that it was a apendacel neuroma.( A nerve growing inside of her appendix.) Her appendix was starting to get inflammed. She has had the pain for the last 3 and 1/2 years and we went to the ER several times.
- Usually Appendicitis starts with pain, and may have vomiting. Within about 12 hours, it shifts to the lower right and causes more pain when walking or when you cough. Normally, you can pinpoint the pain pretty well, with a finger, as it isn't a general pain, but very specific. Anorexia, malaise, slight fever, and constipation of normal. However, I have heard of some diarrhea. Rectal tenderness has also been reported, if I remember correctly. Now, my "problem" with this is that you have said this has been hurting for three days, and a sharp pain for the last two. Normally, you know within about 12 hours, and should have surgery within another 12 hours unless it is one of a host of other things. One of these other things is an ovarian cyst, which can mimic appendicitis. Most cases, you see a doctor to rule out other things, then go from there. You are kind of doing things in the reverse, waiting to rule out the dangerous one. :) I would HOPE your mother would help, even if she doesn't get paid for it, but things are different today. Even a fool would recommend seeing a doctor, as an emergency or just a visit to an office normally, to rule out a dangerous problem. However, had it ruptured, you would have known very quickly. Normally, appendicitis is extremely painful and forces a person to see help for the pain, if nothing else. But, due to time and a previous condition, I would think it is another cyst that needs to be checked out. It could still be appendicitis, so I would check it out to be safe. Your mother "should" know your history and the symptoms well enough to be able to give a better idea (I am not a doctor nor do I know you well enough to rule things out that may have a bearing on this). I am not familiar with the "swine" flu, so I cannot comment on how it may or may not effect your health. However, when in doubt, check it out with a doctor. Generally, the sooner things get checked out (with more information and tests) the cheaper and easier things are. Also, you did not mention if you are sexually active or not, which could include pregnancy in the list of possible causes of the pain, fever, etc. It is very hard to even guess at medical conditions on the Internet, even for a doctor, as there are too many "if" scenarios to deal with. Hope things work out well for you.
