Location Transport

since taking off back lights on my vw transporter. after putting them back on, they dont function properly.?

since taking the back light assembly off my vw transporter, which includes the brake, indicators, and stop lights. nothing is working properly. when i put on the indicators only the front works, and the brake light, lights up, at the same time. the whole setup has gone haywire. can anyone help, as this is driving me mad. thanks.

  1. OK.. making the basic assumption that your light bulbs are all good then..... Lots of possibilities there.. but the most common problem for lights with a volkswagen (bus or bug) is that the ground is either poor or lost. Double check your ground lines, one at a time, at each light. Then go back and foll up your connections from the first connector before the lights (one light is fed by the dash/brake pedal switch, and the second light is fed by the first light.. )... use a continuity checker to see if you have power at the plugs.. if not.. go back and check your fuses. one of those three problems will be yours unless you actually unplugged or re-wired something. .
  2. You have either the wires crossed or disconnected the ground from the assembly by accident.
