- "The Ministry of Transportation" is NOT on strike. MOT workers are working as usual. The employees of the private corporation that oversees driver licencing in Ontario have gone on strike. They previously worked for the Ontario Government. However, they were outsourced several years ago.
- All driver examination centres are now closed until further notice due to the strike of the Serco DES Inc. United Steelworkers Local 9511 workers. According to the union, one of the main issues is job security, as many employees work long hours in the summer and then are laid off in the winter. Address the job security issue to avoid the layoffs and I would think that the union will be back to work. Good luck and safe travels!
