I am traveling to Switzerland in August. We fly into Zurich and will stay in Morschach. How should we travel?
should we rent a car? or travel by train and bus? How expensive would transport be from zurich to morschach by public transport?

- Hello there, Switzerland is gorgeous, you'll have a fabulous time! Checking out Morschach on the maps, it seems like there are fairly good rail connections BUT you may find you will have to change trains often, which could make your journey very long. It would probably be easiest to rest a car, although perhaps not cheapest. Trains can be pretty cheap if you book them in advance, but get very expensive the longer you leave it (they can get up to about 100EUR per train journey...!). If you're able to book online, I would recommend doing that now. Otherwise renting a car is a perfectly acceptable choice and may be the most practical. But get one with a GPS, just in case :)
- Don't rent a car! In Switzerland travelling by train and bus is very popular. Don't forget that Switzerland has one of the densest railway networks in the world - very efficient, by the way. A rental car is of not much use, additionally, parking fees in Morschach and anywhere else in the country can be very heavy. Buy your tickt at Zurich airport station (down the stairs), no reservation or even online booking required. The trip takes 1:35 hours (or slightly longer, depending of the connection you chose). A return ticket in 2nd class (good enough, clean) from Zurich airport to Brunnen (where you'll have to change in order to take the bus up to Morschach) costs Sfr. 52.--. Alternatively, look out for a "Swiss Pass" that entitles you to unlimited travel on consecutive days throughout the rail, bus and boat Swiss Travel System network. The Swiss Pass is available for 4, 8, 15 or 22 days or one month. This pass also covers scenic routes and local trams and buses in 37 towns and cities and will offer 50% reduction all most mountain-top trains and cable cars. The Swiss Pass will also include the Swiss Museum Pass, allowing you free entrance to over 400 museums and exhibitions (http://www.swisstravelsystem.com/produkttexte.php?passid=1 )
- Well, I am prejudiced, can't drive, will never learn it, at return ticket will cost you about 55 CHF in 2nd, and 90 CHF in 1st class. The link below will also give you required travelling times.
