Would you join a protest to protest against the price of fuel and public transport?

The news paper tells me this morning that the price of petrol is going up again!! Apparently they are doing it all in the name of climate change.. but what do thy expect us to do? Stop using cars?? Ok.. fair enough if we do that we can use public transport.. but noooooo... it costs more to go by train than it does by car!! This is getting ridiculous! If you were to be asked to join a protest at your local train station to protest against both the price of fuel and train costs.. would you join? I mean really... not just say you would.. actually do it? This may sound daft.. but us Britons are a bunch of people who usually just layback and let people walk all over us! Its time to take a stand! How much is going to take? For petrol prices to go up to £2 a litre? In response to "what did it do last time" Yes I know.. the very last time, only about 10 people protested.. thats not going to work..! Before that.. ok a few more.. but it was mainly lorry drivers.. Imaging.. if normal people.. across the whole of britain did it!? Maybe we would make a difference? The protest that I have in mind.. is not to disrupt too much.. just lots of people..! Nothing like the fuel blockades...

  1. I'd join a protest to simply protest about something. That's something i've never done, now, on the other hand, being in a riot, that's something I have done.
  2. Quote - This may sound daft.. but us Britons are a bunch of people who usually just layback and let people walk all over us! Its time to take a stand! I said this ages ago - all the people moan but won't get off their backsides to do something about it. Love them or hate them - the French should be admired for their actions when something is wrong - they take to the streets and let their government know about it. That is what we should be doing Climate change via Labour Party is a con of EPIC proportions - the tax you are paying is doing nothing and going nowhere except to fund Gordon Browns failed policies and to prop up the explosion of failed systems in this country. That is the bottom line. YES I would protest
  3. not to be a pessimist, but what did it do last time? i am going to put veg oil in the old deisel van, i need my van for work and the price is eating in to my take home! so i will not be able to pay my tax bill so they will lose mwahahaha! oh well i sit here bleeding dry!!
  4. i would protest against the train fares because of the price and the crap service
  5. were the only country that lets the goverment walk all over us http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2686873-4083193
  6. Yes I would, but unfortunately I'll be bankrupt by then if these fuel prices don't start reversing course. You should of seen some of the pathetic questions the yanks posted about fuel prices of late. Whinging at paying an extra 20 cents on a gallon, gets up my goat. I think we should invite those french farmers over, they're good at causing chaos. edit : No, because the govt doesn't listen.Could be time to re-inact the Russian storming of the winter Palace British style.
  7. it did happen in the 90's and it had some effect but not as much as it should have. Yes we should do it now, and only allow the fire and ambulance service to gain access to fuel. But it is now unlawfull to block the fuel transport depot's and service stations. we are being robbed blind, and now this goverment have allowed the gas and elec companys to do the same.
  8. Yes I would. I am astounded they feel the need to slap on an extra 2p amid all the rises we've had recently. Now the £1 a litre barrier has been broken the sky really is the limit!
  9. Protests just hurt the individuals trying to go about their everyday lives. BA may protest by having strike action but it just disrupts people who want to enjoy life.
  10. Yes, I would definitely protest against the rising fuel taxes!! It seems to me that the government just doesn't listen to the people anymore. Here's an idea.... claim back the £26,000,000 that got sent to Poland in child benefit last year and offset it against the tax on fuel!!
  11. yes i would, this countrys going to the dogs.petrol goes up,the motorist doesnt only get stung on that score, but haulage goes up,so groceries go up,and we get stung again. its ridiculous, but look what happened last time, people were out panik buying petrol,to get to work etc.if we all unite and stick to our guns the country would come to a standstill.but i cant see that ever happening.
  12. When our politicians do so well for themselves that they do not notice price increases do you really think they would do anything about a protest by us 'little people? Just keep sending them your money. BTW Petrol is in excess to £1/ltre. It's heading for £5/gallon now. RoyS.
  13. there is only one thing to do, but you try organising it. For 24 hours everyone should just not fill up with petrol, if they are empty dont go to work, it would hit everybody - retailers, petrol stations , compaines and more importantly the government. Back in the 60's we had a national strike but we are soft in the UK now so it will never happen
  14. government takes 60 p every litre going too 64p after the budget that's the people that are putting the cost of living up and were does it go , some obscure item or some EU project one message wake up to the people who you are supposed to be working for not make life harder
  15. yes
  16. Yes I would. Dark Crusader, a 24 hour ban on buying fuel wouldnt work, as people will just fill up the day before and that would defeat the object.
  17. I certainly would protest. It has gone absolutely stupid with the high price fuel.
  18. Dont buy any petrol/diesel. Dont go to work, then the CBI will whine to the government. Prices will be down in a jiffy. or all get on bicycles and clog all the streets especially in London
  19. I'd go on the protest, as long as it's within the next couple of days.....I
  20. I remember when i was younger i belong to a union, and we all stood up for our rights, then after a while our pay or whatever the grievance was, settled in a short period of time, i even remember when Thatcher was in power people demonstrated against the poll tax and that was then dropped, but know it seems that people who have demonstrated in the past feel that they are getting no ware, when they demonstrate against an issue, it is sad that each government in turn has taken away our rights to show disapproval against them, they tell us everything we want to hear, then when in power they do exactly the opposite, we are supposed to live in a state of democracy, if this is democracy then i feel it is all a big joke, at least the communist do look after their people not like the so called civilized world, i do not know what has happened in this country over the last 30 years, but it is a lot worse now than it used to be.
  21. No...what's the point?
