Public Transport?
Why is it that no matter where you go in mainland europe the public transport system is fantastic. Its clean, on time, cheap etc yet in the Uk its a dirty, smelly unpunctual load of rubbish. And why is it just in Britain that the drunken hoards seem to think its big to tip the contents of a dustbin accross the street on their way home whilst trying to wake up a whole town ? Good point SKULLPICKER (point; get it?) but logistically if we are having delays due to safety then they should be able to refect this in the timetables. If no trains should be within 4miles of each other near a town or city then they should not both be due into a station at the same time, that is a logistical impossability.

- Because britian is going backwards. In Spain, the trains come at the right time, never too early or too late. The trains and buses are clean, tidy and punctual. I think this coutry is going downhill, with drunken hooligans, and teenage pregancies going rife. You wouldnt find any other european country acting in such a disgusting manner. Thats because other countries have morals and are religious countries.
- no idea. It beats me. More action needs to be taken.
- I know that our public transport could do with a serious look at. My ex husband worked on public transport and not a lot of pay for all the abuse he had to put up with. Also with the litter on the streets, why can't we have all these prisoners in chain gangs, picking up all our litter, instead of sitting inside the jails watching Sky sports and being fed and watered every day. England would be a cleaner place.
- I like the cross from talking about transport to drunkards...a good topical question! The transport system is in such a bad condition for two reasons. A) we are the oldest industrialised nation on the planet. Some of our railways are still running on lines laid down inthe 19th century!!! That is why there is constant maintenence on the tracks. Hence disruption! The second is related to the first....the signalling system. Old trains used a signalling system, that is still in use today. These signals are TWO miles apart. Old trains took ages to clear this distance. A Virgin trains take 45 seconds to. Because signals are a safety measure that tell people where the trains is, which means no town trains can be claoser than 4 miles from each other otherwise you risk a nasty crash!..and this is why trains are alway late, because they have to keep this distance!!!! On the contient the signals are 100 meters apart!! Hope this helps!
- Maybe it's because they only run a fraction of the train service that we have in this country, I have been on trains in Europe too and have found dirty litter strewn trains even trains that have been cancelled as for drunken yobbish behaviour that is not exclusive to this country either
