NYC to orlando?

In August my friend is planning to travel to United States from India. He has to reach Orlando, Florida. But since there is no dirct connections from india to orlando, his plane will land at one of the new york city airport. Now can anybody guide me how to reach orlando from new york? What is the cheapest mode of transport? Are trains also available? if yes, Since orlando is far from new york, do we have sleeper class in trains? What should be the approximate return fare for air, train or any other transportation? Also anybody can guide me for hotels upto $150 in new york city?

  1. Amtrak is the only train that goes from NYC to Florida. The Silver Meteor service I think stops in Orlando on the way to Miami. You should check http://www.amtrak.com for costs. Air is probably cheaper and faster. You can get a 1 way ticket to Orlando from NYC LaGuardia for about $99 on many airlines. Flying takes about 2 or 3 hours. Check http://www.hotels.com for hotels.
  2. I would suggest using a search engine like www.kayak.com - you can check for prices for the expected dates of travel - it is all about supply and demand
  3. I just got back to New York from Orlando. I found the best deals to be on JetBlue. $190.00 roundtrip ($95 each way) and about a 2.5 hr flight. Remember, it is Orlando (Disney World) and there will be many kids on the flight. Bring some good headphones. http://www.jetblue.com/ It is cheaper to fly, but Amtrak has trains. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePage Affordable hotel in NYC: http://www.unionsquareinn.com/ Have a safe trip! ...and have fun!
