car shipping?

iam thinking of buying a car from america does any body know how much it could cost me for shipping and how to go about it and would the cars be road legal would i have to do any modifications thanks

2. Assuming you are in the U.K. - Around £1,000 to ship it. Add 30% to the total value (including the shipping charge) for import duty, V.A.T. and brokerage fees. About £750 for an S.V.A. test and registration. For example, let's say you pay £5,000 for the car. Add the shipping charges. Add tax (£1,800). Plus the S.V.A. and registration fees. Total - £8,550. So, it's cost you an extra £3,550 to get it over here and road legal. Unless it's a very, very rare or unusual machine, it's never worth it.
