I panic when i am on public transport - advice?

I have anxiety issues that are worse if i have to catch public transport to and from work. I live in sydney and our public transport is very overcrowded. Right now i dont need to catch it to my job but i will in the future. I also get very anxious in crowds when i am in the city. I still go there but i get pretty stressed by it. What can i do about this? Im thinking of just taking a couple of pills for anxiety to and from work. I get to the point where its hard to breathe on it. Advice?

  1. Take your medications as prescribed and if that does not work tell your therapist.
  2. Sounds like you might have social anxiety disorder. Google it.
  3. Your post puberty aura is very strong and everyone is messing it around... need to learn how to anchor you aura.
  4. i wouldn't mess with pills. no good can come out of pills. i don't think anyone on the public transportation enjoys being there. i think knowing it might help.. that everyone else is probably just as miserable as you are in a train or bus. i hate PT myself. having an ipod or something to listen to music and closing your eyes until u reach ur station helps a lot.
  5. Im like you i avoid places if there going to be overcrowded and public transport is one of them - can you avoid going peak hour or maybe drive half way catch a train / bus which ever one is easier the rest of the way??
