Location Transport

Nerd Poll #2: When you're beamed in a transporter, doesn't that mean you're basically killed and resurrected?

And, could this data of your atoms be saved to make a clone of you? I sure could use another me sometimes......

  1. okay... i'll assume you said hi hello to you too
  2. Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? Your atoms are re-assembled in the exact same way. So yes you're destroyed and essentially brought back to life, but you won't change a bit (except for all your memories, I'm pretty sure that can't be reconstructed) Bring on nerd poll #3!!!
  3. Actually, your atoms are rearranged, so technically you aren't killed. You're just "concentrated" and then "unconcentrated" back to normal.
  4. you really do have a lot of time, don't you !!
  5. <----don't beam me up Scott, doesn't want her molecules messed with
  6. Honestly don't know whatta Transporter is, but in a Jamiroquai song, Cosmic Girl, it's mentioned in its lyrics.
  7. sort of like surviving a black hole, kinda.
  8. No. One just disassembles then reassembles. You need to start training your Mini Me after school.
  9. yes, you'd be taken apart, atom by atom, elctrons and protons and neutrons separated, and converted into engergy, and the almost infinte amount of data associated with that would be stored. This pretty much makes you dead as a doornail. then, the data would be sent electronically, and a duplicate made from the stored data. Hopefully, not one little error would be made, or none of the little bits of DNA would be out of order and it would require multiple terabytes of storage for the data, and VAST amounts of enegery to accomplish the disassembly and reconstruction...
  10. No...because the broccoli won't let it happen
  11. I could sur use one of you too. When they clone ya, hook me up, Okay?
  12. Yes, and yes, by the time that technology is mastered your grandkids can resurrect you for the nanny in 2080.. whee!
  13. The psychosematic innendo of the question has semi religious overtones. Do you mean we are trying to emulate the Lord Christ in our assumption of paranormal travel, or are you questioning the validity of resurrecting the spirit in scientific terms? Either way, "May you live long and prosper"
  14. Eventually, like all machines it will malfunction. Then when they beam you back you will have an arm sticking out of your azz. Oh happy days.
  15. I'm glad I wasn't the only nerd out there watching The Universe last night! I dunno where you are but I sure wish we could get together and drink and watch nerdy stuff on TV, you are my new Super Nerd Hero!!!!
  16. More like taken apart and reassembled.
