Where can I see a Beluga Transporter Airplane land in person?
My 8 year old is very interested in planes - and we are fascinated by the Airbus A300-600ST Beluga Super Transporter (or other model) plane. I want to take us to see one land at any airport. How do I find out where(which airport), when (what time) one is going to land? Thank you ...prefereably at an airport on the Northeastern part of the United States like New York, Boston etc.

- The Beluga was built to carry large sub-assemblies of airbus aircraft from factories where they are built to final assembly lines. For example, most Airbus wings are flown on the Beluga from the factory in the UK where they are produced to France and Germany, where they are combined with other large parts to build a new Airbus. This means most of their flights are in Europe, including the UK, France, and Germany. Airbus also assembles a small number of A320s in China as of 2009, so the Beluga now makes trips to Asia on a fairly regular basis. Occasionally, the Airbus Beluga is used for other special missions and ventures, and has been to the US several times carrying cargo that doesn't fit on normal aircraft. It occasionally makes rounds at airshows as a good-will ambassador for Airbus. The closest thing you will find on a regular basis in the US is the Boeing 747-400 Large Cargo Freighter. This 747 LCF is a real monsters, significantly bigger than the Beluga in pretty much every way. Like the Beluga, the 747 LCF's were built to ferry big airplane parts from around the world to a final assembly line, except in this case they support Boeing's 787 line. The closest airport to you that regularly sees Boeing 747 LCFs is Charleston, South Carolina. If you want to stay closer to home and are willing to "settle" for regular 747s and A300s, check out www.flightaware.com . You can enter an airport name in the lower left corner of the main screen and see what aircraft are scheduled to arrive and depart over the next few hours. It can also be used to search for specific types of aircraft and track flights in the air.
