Do Car-shipping companies usually require a deposit?
I wanna ship a car from Chicago out to Maui,HI.I understand that there will be 2 separate companies involved. One that drives cross-country to San Pedro,CA and the other being someone like Matson to get it shipped to HI from there via ship.Any recommendations for car-moving companies? What are the conditions and preperations for a smooth transport? Also,do they require a deposit before pick-up?

- normally they require at least deposit in a lot of cases they require full payment
- Hey good for you! I've never had the experience of shipping a car...but I do know a source that would have some guidance for you...your automotive insurance company. They have a vested interest in helping.
- Stay away from Dallas auto shipping. Total crooks............
- Typically in some form or another a deposit is required before your vehicle is picked up. Frequently it is due when you order, but some companies wait until it is assigned to a specific truck to take the deposit. I would highly recommend checking out any company you are are looking to use on http://www.TransportReviews.com. They have over 40,000 customer reviews on car moving companies. There will be two companies involved to get the vehicle to HI. You will pay a company to get it from IL to CA about $850. Then you will pay Matson for the over water shipment part. Many times the ground company will work with Matson on your behalf. I've included a link to what others have paid to ship from IL to CA. I've also included the link to the Matson prices. If you are wanting specific price quotes from companies that are rated well on Transport Reviews.com you can just fill out the quote form at http://www.vehicletransport.com/ Hope this helps. Good luck.
