Location Transport

What is the best location to stay san francisco?

Hi, I'm staying in San Francisco the last weekend of September and I was wondering what is the best location to get an hostel/hotel. I'm looking for something cheap, but also from where it's easy to go around and get to all the touristic spots and sights. We're a group of young people (average 22 years old) so we'd also like to do something at night. Is there something that meets all this features?

  1. By the bay.
  2. I actually recommend you stay at the Rodeway Inn in Berkeley which is north of downtown San Francisco, or stay in another highly rated motel in Berkeley. You can easily use the BART public transit to get to downtown San Francisco in less than half an hour, and motels are much cheaper in Berkeley. You can also visit all the student hangouts in Berkeley near the university.
  3. Union Square is probably the best place to stay. There are lots of good restaurants, shops, theaters and clubs in the Union Square area. It is centrally located easy to walk to many places, easier to get cabs, with lots of public transportation options. Driving in the city can be confusing for visitors and parking is difficult and expensive. Muni offers multi day passes that are good for buses, trolley, light rail and the cable cars [unique experience but $5 per ride]. http://www.sfmuni.com There is a hostel on Mason near Geary that you could check out they have both dorm and semi private rooms so depending on the size of your group you could be able to all share one or two rooms. http://www.sfhostels.com/locations/downtown.php And for some great ideas of things to do check out these websites: http://www./www.jdvhotels.com/thingstodo http://www.mistersf.com
