Public transport from Liverpool to Alton Towers?

I'm from Ireland so I dont know my way around Liverpool but is there any bus going straight from Liverpool to Alton Towers or even a train? Were staying in a hotel very close to the John Lennon airport so is there any information and advice that would be important and make our trip easier?

  1. it's a bit tricky. I would make your way to Liverpool South Parkway station (there is a bus from the airport) and get a train to Blythe Bridge - you need to change at Crewe From Blythe Bridge there is a shuttle bus to the park operated by the park.
  2. no idea really, but if you get a national Express coach to stoke, it should be a lot easier,
  3. hi there. There are coach firms that sell a coach and entry ticket deal from Liverpool city centre, google them. There is no direct bus otherwise, you need to get the train from the airport to Liverpool Lime Street, then the train from Liverpool Lime Street to Stoke. From Stoke there is a shuttlebus to the park - my daughter and her friend did exactly that a few weeks ago, worked out quite well. Good luck, Steve.
  4. You need to get to Liverpool south parkway, and get a train for Crewe, Change at Crewe for Uttoxeter train station which is the closest to Alton towers and has an 1/2 hourly bus service to the park. You can get a bus from Stoke but there are only two in the morning and two in the evening.
