How do i transport fish in warm weather?
I have scoured the city of Phoenix looking for Figure 8 puffers. I finally found them at a lfs that is about a 30 minute drive. How can i safely transport those fish to their new home in 110 degree weather?

- Bring a cooler with, put the bags in a cooler. Keep the cooler in an air conditioned car when transporting.
- i would think a small cooler should keep the water at a stable temp for a half hr. i would try to avoid direct sun light and use a light colored cooler
- Cooler. Put some ice around the outside of the bad. Obviously not a lot of ice, but enough. but fish can live in water up to 98 degrees, so you should be ok either way.
- use a foam box thats how they carry dry ice
- put it in a good container! the put ice on each corner! cold water makes the fish relax...
- not to be a smart a$$ but. try during the morning or late afternoon when it gets cooler. Styrofoam box is perfect with a little bit of API Stress Coat. putting ice in the cooler is really your call to make because you dint want to have the temperature fluctuating. it will stress the puffers out too much. good luck and try not to get a speeding ticket. lol.
- Does your car have aircon? As long as it does, the temp in the car want be as hot, you can probably keep it about right for the fish. A cooler bin is a good idea anyway, it will take hours for the bag of water to warm up or cool down if it's in a insulated bin. Ian
