A couple of weeks back one of our two cars was stolen from our apartment parking lot - the car was 2000 Civic - with a KBB value of around 5K. We were in the middle of a move and my wife was to drive it to the other city (500+ miles), just two days from when it was gone... with no car - my wife and daughter had to fly. I am still here with the other car - scheduled to drive to them next weekend. Got a call from police dept. yesterday that they've found the car and there's some minor damage to it - in addition to the ignition having been ripped open. While this have been a welcome news at another time, the move has caused a problem - I am stuck here with two cars. What's worse, is that we have an international travel (long vacation) scheduled two weeks from now. What I want to ask is - will insurance pay for transporting the car to that other city (we had already changed our address to that city just few days before the car was stolen)? What can I ask them for? Given the circumstances (move, Intl. travel) I'd rather they keep the car and just settle my claim - but I guess that's not an option... or is it? As long as the Insurance co. pays for transporting the car and the repair, I think I will be alright - is this something that I can negotiate for? Thanks in advance for taking the time.
