i need help with DHL shipping?

i am trying to buy an iphone off of somebody from overseas. they have suggested using DHL in order to ship it. they have said that DHL will hold on to the phone until i check it and certify that it is the product i want and if it is i can then send the money, is this true? is there anyway that they are trying to scam me?

1. I have not heard of this, usually if you buy something you pay prior to shipping, however, if you are not parting with any cash untill you have recieved and checked the item it does not sound like a scam, but do use something like paypal to make payment(if possible)and keep the reciept.
2. That is NOT how DHL works. DHL is ONLY a shipping company - they DO NOT hold items and DO NOT accept payments for transactions This is a very common scam. Do not even respond to this person or you will end up on a mugu list
