Is it legal to use a farm use trailer to transport a car?

I own a farm in VA and use my trailer seasonally to transport hay however my buddy's car broke down (it's a 74 Chevy) is it legal to give him a tow to his shop?

1. I am in the UK but I'm sure as you have all the right signage in view ( car on tow )and he is insured, not a problem
