- The problem is that Elk Grove is hard to get to and Pleasanton is of no real help. It would be better to take Bart to North Concord/Martinez and take a bus to the Martinez Amtrak station to Sacramento and get a bus from sacramento to Elk Grove You need to speak with BART, Amtrak and Sacramento transit authority. We are talking perhaps five to six hours to make this trip

- Bart to El Cerrito Del norte sta, Fast 90 to Fairfield, then Fast 30 to Sacramento. Then Elk Grove transit.
- Best way is to BART, take Amtrak then Sacramento Public Transit. You can catch the amtrak to sacramento from Richmond Bart. but I dont know which sacramento public transit bus takes you to elk grove.
- Elk Grove is about 30 miles south of Sacramento near Hwy 99. You might rent a car for the day because otherwise it will take a few hours to do what is a 2-hour trip by car. It is just too difficult. I suggest posting an ad on Craigslist for ride-share. Someone going from S.F. to UC Davis might drive you all the way. You can take Greyhound to Sacramento then another to Elk Grove. That is easiest, other than driving.
- I'd go with Travelmasters suggestion....Take BART rail to El Cerrito Del Norte Station, then the Fairfield Transit system (FAST) will take you to Sacramento with one change of buses in Fairfield from the #90 to the #30. Then once in Sacramento Elk Grove Transit has frequent service to Elk Grove. Total one way cost using transit less than $10. You could integrate Amtrak into this trip but it would cost more and not save much time. Good Luck!
