Could I possibly have appendicitis?

So Saturday night, I had this dull pain to my left of my right hip bone when I moved certain ways. I thought it could maybe be that I did something to one of my muscles and just went to bed. Then I got up the next morning (today..Sunday) and the pain was a little worse. It’s bearable so I still didn’t think anything of it. When I saw my mom, I told her that it hurt more. She said it was one of three things-cramps saying I'm going to get my period, some kinda pregnancy, or my appendix about to rupture. Well, 1.i know what my cramps feel like and that’s not it and 2.there is no way I'm pregnant. So now I'm nervous that I have appendicitis. The pain has gotten a little worse since I got back to college and it hurts when I like stand straight up and kind of stretch (like if I was reaching for something.) I’m thinking maybe because I was moving around a lot and climbing some stairs. Now it kinda aches while I'm sitting here too but it usually just hurts on and off and when I'm moving around. When it hurts, I just touch it and say ‘ow’ or grunt or something..sounds silly I know. My mom said that if it was appendicitis, I would definitely be puking by now, and I'm not so that’s reassuring. Some things I should mention: my mom had appendicitis over 10 years ago when I was little, so is this hereditary? I don’t like to go to the doctors or even admit that I'm hurt..I like to tough things out so I wont go unless it gets real bad. I'm terrified of syringes /having blood taken/surgery and the sort which is the main reason why I'm kinda nervous. The pain is tolerable and isn’t present all the time..just when I move a lot or in certain ways. I've been extra tired the last few days, but i dont know if that's related or not. Just putting it out there So I guess the point of this is.... do you think I could have appendicitis? Or is it just some weird achy pain in the same location? Are there things that I should/shouldn’t do (I'm nervous to eat, take pain meds, etc)? What symptoms could i look for? Basically, do you have any pointers? Thanks :)

  1. appendicitis usually presents with sharp pain in the lower right side of the abdomen, fever and nausea/vomiting. However it is one of those strange illness that can present in many different ways, just depends on the person. I'd say if your only symptom is a dull, achy pain then it's probably not appendicitis. But if it gets worse or if you get a fever then you should go to the doctor or hospital. As far as I know, genetics doesn't play a role. I've had my appendix out but no one else in my family ever has.
