Invention kills its owner. Thoughts?

Segway, the two wheeler personal transporter, kills its owner. 62-year-old Jimi Heselden fell off a cliff while riding on a Segway in England. 1. read the article yesterday, and it's still too early to say that he died due to the segway. there is good possibility that he was thrown off the segway and fell to his death since many people have stated that they have fallen off the segway.
2. I think its ironic, sad, and idiotic. I'm sorry he died but why was he riding a segway on city streets?
