How to ping cell phone location?

My younger daughter is at risk for wandering off without telling me where she is and I have unsuccessfully used a GPS tracking device which she threw out of her backpack. She usually comes home later. Law enforcement is unable to help timely due to budget cuts and low staff. She does have an LG Verizon phone. I know there is a way to ping a cell phone using the tower, but is there a way around the red tape of the cell company. I hesitate to use a software service since I as yet cannot find one to support her type of phone. (Not a smart phone, just a simple GPS enabled phone)

Honestly it will be kind of hard not to have a smart phone I personally don't see it any other way I have a Motorola Cliq by T-mobile but maybe Verizon has a similar phone reason Im stating this is that it has a Built in GPS and it has this services where you could go to the computer and ping your phone at its exact location now if your doughter disables the GPS you could still track her down it will ping the closets sell toward location so you will need around what area shes currently on now for other android phones their are other apps that let you do this but Mine came included in my phone :-) hope this helps
