Riding Lawnmower - How do i transport it back home?
I'm considering purchasing a used riding lawnmower. I do have a van but was wondering that when i do finally locate the lawnmower how the heck do i transport it back to my house? For your average riding lawnmower for suburban homes can such a lawnmower be picked up by 2 adults and placed into a back of a van or is such a unit too heavy, too wide, too tall for such a thing. How do i go about transporting it back home? Thanks

- You could rent one of those little u-haul trailers and use wooden planks to drive it up into it. Mine is too heavy for 2 people to lift. I don't know what type you have. We have a Workhorse.
- You probably will need a friend with a full sized pick-up truck. Get two wide heavy boards, and drive the tractor up the boards, onto the pickup truck. Take it off the same way. We used to have to transport our lawn tractor every week to mow at a different location that we owned. My husband always did it this way.
- If you know somebody that has a trailer or truck and trailer see if they will go with you to pick it up otherwise rent a trailer the mower will be too heavy to lift into the van.
- Most dealers or stores can deliver or arrange to deliver for you. Otherwise it's likely the machine is too heavy for a couple of people to pick up but after you make sure it will fit inside your van you can load it with a plank ramp such as already described. You could also rent a tilt bed trailer and a clamp on hitch for your van.
