  1. First, you must be a certified non profit. Check out this website for more on volunteering: http://www.coyotecommunications.com/volunteer/international.html Hope this helps.
  2. You won't get sponsorship, sorry. No companies will sponsor you unless you come up with some unique angle for your trip. Nothing you've said above is unique. It's nice, but not unique. transire benefaciendo "to travel along while doing good." http://www.coyotecommunications.com/travel/go_and_do_good.html Funding Your Volunteering Abroad Trip http://www.coyotecommunications.com/stuff/fundingabroad.html
  3. I highly suggest Costa Rica. There are many existing environmental organizations that can help you, and would love to use your help. Start by looking for Canadian ones, I seem to always run into those. United States has its fair share down here too. Costa Rica is huge on conversation, and is very easy to travel around. It's government aspires for it to be the first carbon neutral country (don't want to argue about carbon neutrality here, but it certainly shows their commitment to being "green"). Some 20% of their land is protected, and there is a huge variety of endangered and endemic species to be studied. If you can find an organization to work for you can most likely get a VISA for an extended period of time. Otherwise you have 90 days (30 if you piss off an immigrations worker or they are in a bad mood), and have to cross the border to Nicaragua or Panama for 72 hours before returning (any country works, but those are easy to bus to). You can theoretically do this forever, until they decide you're taking advantage. I don't know if I would travel to many countries though --- your work is always longer lasting when you stay and take time to do it right. The most important part of conversation is education, and its hard to properly educate people (and yourself, for that matter), when you're only in town for a few weeks before moving on.
  4. If you are at all interested in southeast Asia and causes in addition to environmental, check out the Cambodian orphanage Santepheap that provides children with regular food, schooling and activities. They rely solely on volunteers who travel through. My guess would be that they would be receptive to someone coming to teach awareness of the environment as well.
