Location Transport

Would the Tea Party abolish the Department of Transportation ?

Theres way too many socialist roads already.

  1. Yep, only toll roads. Owned by the rich republicans, of course.
  2. No. You need to study the difference between fed mandated spending and state funded roads and highways. Have you ever figured how much the fed makes at 30-60 cent per gallon tax?
  3. To RJC: I think you'd be shocked at how much in federal money goes to those "state roads." Try reading something other than radical right wing nonsense.
  4. Not sure if the Tea Party would do it, but someone should. Anything the government can do, you can do better. Anything. Department of Education...pathetic. IRS...f'ed up!! Food and Drug Administration...sure, if you like ingesting poison. Department of Transportation...just drive through Missourri. You'll figure it out real friggin' quick.
  5. I'd hope so. Their job is unnecessary. They have an enormous budget that is largely wasted on pet-projects. Their entire reason for existence can (and has previously been) handled by the Department of Commerce. Beyond that, the Federal Government has used the DOT encroach itself into areas where it has absolutely no authority by the Constitution. For example, the 55mph speed limit established by the Federal Government was done so by threatening to withhold DOT funding from the states if they did not comply. Nowhere in the Constitution is it implied that the Federal Government has the authority to regulate the operation of state or local roads.
