Does America have public transport?
I'm from London. My friend came back from New York not so long ago. She said she loved it but one problem that bothered her is that they didn't have public transport. Like here we have the tube, trains, buses to get from one place to another. Does America have that? I'm just interested. :) Thanks!

- Yes, America has public transport.
- Not as good as the Tube.
- We have all kinds of public transport but they are really only or mostly existent in larger cities. NY has a subway system which is very large actually and taxis you have to pay for. DC has a metro system. I dont know about other places :P
- Yes they do,i was there in November/December and i rode the trains and subway system.I also saw buses. One of my kind y/a contacts drove me around a lot too.
- What part of New York was she in??? It has excellent public transport eg. subway etc.
- Not as good as the tube in London. But they do have public transport
- yes t do but it's not as good or as common as in london or europe
- We have a limited amount of public transportation in bigger urban areas. But overall we rely way too much on cars, and could immensely benefit from more public transportation.
- Yes... New York in particular is known for it's subway system. I live in California, and from 1998 to 2003 I used almost nothing BUT Public transit to get to work, shop, and travel... CalTrain and ACE (two commuter train systems) BART (a light-rail / subway), and three different county bus systems. We moved to the country in 2004 HECK, even way out here in the country, our County has a public bus... actually 4 buses !!
- Not like Great Britain. Some of the big cities like New York, Boston, Washington DC and Chicago have public transit. In terms of getting from one city to another, your only options are car or plane. America does have a rail system named Amtrak but it is nowhere near as good as Britain's railways.
- yes,,,
