Please give me some advices for travelling to London?
Hi, I am living in the Netherlands. I am planning to visit London for a weekend of 26 and 27 of March. I have several questions: 1. At London airport, which is the most convenient public transport for me to go to the city central? 2. Here, in the Netherlands, people use bus as the most popular public transport, in London, is it tram/metro or also bus? 3. Where must I visit in London? Thanks in advance! Hi, I will stay there for 2 days. could you please recommend me some best places to go? I am really thankful about your suggestions but it is quite long for me though :) Thanks!

- 1. The Underground 2. we have loads of buses in London 3. Camden Market London Dungeons Boat on Thames. Maybe London Eye although it's really over priced, London Zoo Madame Tussauds Tower of London Big Ben. Convent Garden Leister Square Oxford Street Regent Street Buckingham Palace Tate Modern and that's all i can think of have a good trip!
- 1- It depends which airport you are going to land at! If it's Heathrow then the tube is the cheapest, the Heathrow Express is the fastest but much more expensive. Luton and Gatwick it's a train journey (not too long or expensive) from a station that's very close to the airport, Stansted and you can get the train from a station below the terminals. You also have the option of getting a coach from all of the airports - slower but cheaper. 2. The bus is very popular, as is the tube (the London Underground, our metro system.) 3. The Tate Modern art gallery, spitalfields MArket and Brick Lane + Shoreditch on a Sunday, touristy stuff is optional - Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London. Portobello Market is also nice, and Broadway Market is really great and not very touristy, but a little off the beaten track. I also recommend the small Sir John Soane Museum in Holborn. Covent Garden is a pleasant place to go shopping.
- 1. The underground from Heathrow,The train from Gatwick. p.s. City Airport, I used taxi (Don't know) 2. In London the bus is great, (you can see a lot from upstairs) but it is complicated to get where you want. The Tube (metro) is easier to follow. 3. The National Gallery. The great museums. Victoria and Albert, Science, and the British Museum. Walk around the parks. Green Park. Tate Modern if you like artistic urinals and stuff like that. the Borough Market on Fridays and Saturday. St Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey. A trip down the Thames to Greenwich. Just walk around the centre. The Tower of London. Highgate cemetery. (Marx is dead!) - 1. depends on the airport you land. most probably you will get to Gatwick, which means train is the best option to get to central London (about 30 minutes away, 12 GBP ticket) 2. Transportation in London is very well organized. But bus lines might be a bit confusing for starter to get from point A to B. Best is to use subway trains, and cheapest deal would be to get 1 day travel pass (transport for trains, subway + buses - costs around 8 GBP / day) 3. as you will probably be visiting central London, somewhere closer is preferable. see here for hotels in popular touristic locations http://www.londonhotels2book.com/popular/ and things to visit, many things to do for a 2 days trip: http://www.londonhotels2book.com/attractions-sighseeing-tours.html enjoy
- Don't take buses from the airport. The distances too great and traffic congestion bad. From Heathrow you have the choice of rail or Underground (Metro) into central London. The other airports - Gatwick,Stansted,Luton have good frequent fast rail links to central London. You don't mention your interests but London has wonderful museums and art galleries, parks and open spaces, theatre and architecture. I always suggest to people that they take a boat trip on the Thames too. www.heathrowexpress.com www.tfl.gov.uk www.southernrailway.com (cheaper than the Gatwick Express for travel Gatwick Airport to Victoria) www.stanstedexpress.com www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk (For trains Luton Airport Parkway Station to London St Pancras)

- 1.)Just take a cab (taxi) 2.)there is the cab (the most convenient especialy in this weather), the bus, underground (much faster) 3.)london dungeon hyde park alton towers chesington world of adventures london zoo oxford street / circus- you can shop till u drop there trafalgar square trocaderro- soo nice its a massive arcade lego land- for kids but nice london eye- quite boring but you will see a great view of london ill be expecting a reply!!
- Buy the magazine "Time out" it has details of all concerts, clubs, expo's etc, all that's going on. Travel either by tube or bus, the tube is easier, but bus nicer. Nice place to visit the week-end is either Camden town market area, or Portobello road, also a long street market, antiques to clothes, nice ambience. whatever you do , have a good time.
