Do you enjoy driving? If public transport was drastically improved would you give up your car?
Personally I hate driving, yet I still use a car for convenience. This is despite the fact that public transport is good where I live. Would you miss your car if you gave it up, even if public transport could fulfil all your travel needs?

- I like driving to be honest - but going places by train can be fun, but expensive for a family of 4
- my car goes much faster than the bus and it doesn't smell of old people who stink of wee nor full of fould mouthed teenage slobs, so no i won't be giving my baby up anytime soon lol
- Can't load camping gear on a bus.
- I live in Greater Manchester where public transport is already very good. But I don't really like to use it if I can avoid doing so, simply because I'm 6'5" and buses aren't designed for people my height.
- I would never give up my car anyways but i have no choice as the public transport around here is not suitable for a shift worker with a ten mile commute every day.
- No, never
- I have not used a car for a long time. I think thats best if public transport is good where you are otherwise its a problem.
- Think of all the people that drive on a motorway, i cant see them all fitting onto a bus..
- Good evening Corny, I have been a great supporter of London public transports for the last 20 years. I only drive on my days off because there is no where to park where i work. If i am honest, i would rather drive to work now because i am sick of being pushed and shoved on buses.
- I love driving, it's one of the few pleasures I really enjoy The cost of running my car would have to be ridiculously high to make me think of giving it up
- we have NO public transportation. There is no choice but to drive. The nearest grocery is 4 miles away.
- The only time I enjoy driving is if I'm playing a driving game on my Xbox. I hate actuallly driving a car in real life, that is one reason why I don't! I have never owned a car, I have hired one if I need it (only done that once) and have had access to my husbands car (again, only ever drove that a handful of times). I loathe driving on the whole. Apart from going in the car on family outings/visits, I take the bus if it is just me going somewhere that warrants a bus. We walk everywhere in my town, though. The public transport in my area isn't brilliant, but it could be worse - it used to be worse to be honest. But, I am used to it, it is no bother to me to be 'tied' to the bus times - I have done so for many years and never has it been a major problem. Even if my husband did give the car up we would be quite happy. We were carless for about a year and we managed just fine. There were occasions we missed it, but on the whole it wasn't really a miss - I am just as happy on a bus (although hubby wasn't!).
- I like driving but I have to use public transport as the most convenient and cost effective way to get to work. I just wish they had smell barriers on the tube to stop those with stinky BO being allowed on.
