how do you become a - National Transportation Safety Board Pilot?

  1. First you need to understand that MOST NTSB jobs are engineering related and not pilots. They investigate accidents not fly planes. If there are any openings you should apply directly to the NTSB. They even publish those openings. http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/search.aspx?jbf574=TB*&FedEmp=Y&FedPub=Y&sort=rv,-dtex&vw=d&re=134&caller=basic.aspx or http://www.ntsb.gov/vacancies/listing.htm Good luck but I suspect you will need an engineering degree to get where you want.
  2. They don't have pilots as such but they have a lot of staff/investigators who are/were experienced aviators of some sort.
  3. They don't directly employ pilots in a flying capacity. You would apply to the Department of Interior, Office of Aircraft Services. Plan on having a college degree, at least a commercial pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument privileges, some past work experience as a pilot, and a bit of luck. Being a minority (such as female) helps due to the EOA.
