How can I get to Coit Tower from Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco by public transport?
I will be with my granddaughter, and I'd like to avoid as much walking (or climbing) as possible.

- Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) says: Walk to Beach St & Mason St (0.1 mi) Take the F light rail toward Castro Station (3 stops) From the stop at The Embarcadero & Sansome St, walk to 1 Telegraph Hill Blvd (Coit Tower) (0.3 mi)
- There is a 39 Coit bus that will take you from Northpoint and Stockton streets just two blocks south of Pier 39 to the base of Coit tower. Fare is $2 for adults, children under 5 are free. You'll be issued a transfer that will be good for 90 minutes plenty of time to take the bus back to the wharf. Or better yet after your visit to Coit tower walk to the east side of telegraph hill and walk down the Fillbert Street steps [gardens, great views and a chance to see the famous parrots of Telegraph hill] and then catch the F line trolly car back to the wharf.
- Go to North Point and Stockton St. Take the 39 directly to coit tower. No need for transfers
