(uk) looking for a good route finder?

Currently looking for work, however most jobs suited to me aren't in my local area, they're a few miles away in a different town. Now i'm perfectly happy getting to the town from where I am, its just working out public transport in the towns to figure out what would be the best way to get where i'm going. Of course I plan to move there once I get used to work / have some money, but til then commuting is preferable for now. What i'm really asking is if anyone knows of any good route planners which can take into account bus routes etc. Google maps always seems to think buses don't exist still.
