I want to go to Colorado because I am extremely obsessed with South Park (the TV show) which is set in Colorado, specifically in Fairplay in which there is a real place called South Park. My mother has said she will pay for me to go there, alone, as an 18th birthday present (my 18th birthday is this month) however I live in the UK and have never actually been to America; I also don't know that much about Colorado beyond information I have accumulated from South Park and Wikipedia. My mother said she has looked up Fairplay online and only 500 people live there, however there are definitely places you can stay. It doesn't really bother me if Fairplay IS really boring and uneventful, because the sole fact it is the place South Park is based on makes it, to me, worth spending a week in. However if anyone lives there/has been there I would still like to know what it's like. My second question is, is there any way of getting to Fairplay from either Denver International or Colorado Springs airport? i.e., via public transport, since I can't drive. My mother seems to think there isn't; she thinks people probably rely on cars. Apparently the nearest place you can get to is 20 miles away. Thirdly, if I was to go to other places in Colorado and not just hang around in Fairplay for a week thinking about how much I love South Park, does anyone who actually lives in Colorado have any ideas? I mean, do they even have a tourist market? It's not something I really know, I guess. Can you get holiday packages type things to travel around the Rocky Mountain areas, or do not enough people go there on holiday? Thank you, anyone who actually answers. And yes I am totally serious (also please don't answer if you want to criticise South Park and say you don't like it... I only mentioned it so people would understand why I wanted to go to Fairplay specifically and not somewhere more "normal," such as LA or New York.) :-L Oh okay, I did kind of know South Park was a "basin" and not a town in real life so I'm not sure why I wrote that. Fairplay is the place that's supposed to have similar landmarks to on the show from what I read. :-/ And yeah I knew there was a North Park... and presumably a Middle Park...
