  1. Its a chance you should not take.A belt costs very little in comparison to new engine.Until an inspection is carried out its guess work.I have seen timming belts that have worn out across.due to wearing out by rubbing up against some of the drive gears and adjusters,So I do not go for this 100,000mls proclaimed by belt producing companies. In your instance 60000would be a good time to carry out this inspection.
  2. Hi I do believe that VW recommend that ALL of their timing belts are replaced at 40,000 miles. You would be best advised to fit a whole belt kit and a water pump whilst you have it stripped. Very best regards Geordie
  3. VW recommend check and adjust every 40K miles(t/belt) Every 80k miles recommend replacement of both timing and pump belts and pulleys and tensioners. Cheers
  4. check the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. I do not have a van so I don't know but on vw.com under my vw you can find the maintenance schedule. I believe that on the TDI that it is to be replaced every 40k miles. I will say that if it needs to be done do it ASAP because the belt can destroy the engine if it breaks. Good luck.
  5. 80.000 miles and replace the tensioner as well.
