Taxi vs shared shuttle to/from Orlando Airport to Lake Buena Vista?

Weare 2 adults traveling with 3 year old and find it somewhat expensive to arrange for transportation. Which is cheaper/more convenient? I booked the Walt Disney World Dolphin however shortly after is when i noticed that although its supposed to be part of the Disney's resorts, it doesn't offer the Disney Magin Express shuttle service.

1. Taxi's are so expensive you might find it cheaper to rent a car. I always stay in Disney Property so if I fly to Orlando I use their Magic express.
2. may i ask what hotel you are staying at? if you are staying in a disney world owned and operated hotel you can take advantage of disney's FREE magical express bus which takes you from the orlando international airport (MCO) to your hotel and back. if you are NOT staying in a disney world owned and operated hotel then i would recommend the mears transportation shared shuttle van. ages 3 and under are FREE and just as an example if you were to get a ride from the orlando international airport to wyndham @ bonnet creek which is located on disney world property but is not a disney world owned and operated hotel it would cost you $21 per adult for one way or $34 per adult for a round trip.

"Indi" is right on with her answer... if you are staying at a Disney resort, call (407) 939-7675 and make arrangements for the FREE Disney Magical Express bus to/from the airport (be prepared to give them your flight info). ...if you are not staying with Disney, Mears shuttle is the cheapest and is perfectly fine (mearstransportation.com or call (407) 423-5566)...we did the shuttle back in 2003, which was the only time we stayed off site. It was the two of us (my 13 year old son and me), and from what I can remember two other small families... if my memory serves me correct, I think the shuttle can hold about 12 passengers...we had only 2 stops prior to ours and we were the last to be dropped off, about 25-30 minute ride in total, so not bad at all.... I highly disadvise a taxi... will cost waaaay too much...... Have a fun time!

5. I hate shared shuttles. First you have to wait for everybody to arrive, then you have to wait for a shuttle to drop all people off (who is staying at hotels/resorts closer to the airport) ...and you pay almost the same price as a private taxi. You can get a taxi from the airport to Lake Buena Vista Hotel for only $55.
6. The Mears shuttle can take you and your family their. It must be arranged in advance and will probably pick you up very early (up to 3-5 hours before your flight.) You will also have to wait for them to pickup other passengers along the way. You are charged per person and it will be $42 one way. Children 3 and under are free. 407-423-5566. The Mears taxi will pick you up when you are ready. You should ask for a car seat or booster seat when arranging the taxi. It will cost approximately $55-60. The taxis are metered and will pick you up when you are ready to go. They are less expensive than the vehicles that are on the stand in the front of the Walt Disney World Dolphin.
