can dealer register the car in my name at the Ministry of Transportation?
I am buying a car in Toronto and the dealer told me they can transfer the car's owner name to mine and do all the procedure at the Ministry of Transportation. Is procedure that usual? Can they do it?

- Yes they can. I normally buy the cars my snowbird parents lease when the lease is up. They take their "old" car to the dealership in the morning, which shows them as the "plate owner" and "GMAC Finance" as the vehicle owner. The dealership removes their plate, puts it on the new car, and sends them on their way with vehicle permit for the new car. 3 or 4 hours later I show up with my "old" car, the dealership removes my plate, puts it on their "old" my "new" car, and sends me on the way with a vehicle permit for the "new" car. One year I even did it over the phone while I was 2000 km away. Just called my insurance company, arranged for my insurance to transfer to the new vehicle on the designated day, and FedEx-ed the keys and signed registration my parents, along with a photocopy of my licence. When I came home, the new car with my plates was sitting in their driveway waiting for me. All the dealership needs to do it is your insurance information (Insurance Company and Policy Number), and your driver's licence number.
