What is the difference between public and commercial transportation?
Friend and I are disputing the differences. Is a jumbo jet from an airliner considered a commercial transportation or public transportation? And what are the differences between the two? Also what are the definitions of private, public, commercial, and industrial transportation?
Public Comments
- A jet is commercial Basically, public means that it is paid for by the government. City buses, subway systems, etc, all usually are paid for and maintained by the government. Sometimes, you will see private companies provide shuttles, like around the airport. Taxis also fit under this. This is commercial, as it is a private company doing this. This is usually different as it must be paid for, while many public transportation services are free. Private is your own car/vehicle, industrial is usually when a company or person uses another company or person for shipping things. Think UPS or FedEx
