What transportation thats cheap can my friend use from Springfield MA to New York NY?

My friend is tired of exspencive transportation to New York to come and see me. He takes the Peter Pan bus and the round trip is $50 and then needing $80 for taxi and then around $75 around there and stuff for food maybe more then that comes to $205 maybe more. Are there any Car services that are cheap in Springfield that maybe you guys know of or any transportation that is cheap so it wont be too much money. Please help. Thanks.
