Location Transport

Is it a good idea to carry on public transport a bike by dismounting it ?

I want a light bike and also to carry it in public transport, but I dont like folding-bike because they are heavy and not too fast when riding. Will they let me on public transport if I dismantle a road bike, and is it hard to mount it every time ?

  1. Not sure where you live, but around here (southern California) all of the buses have bike racks mounted to the front. No need to take anything apart. I noted that in Las Vegas, a lot of buses have "hangers" where you can let your bike hang on a hook. Again, no part need be removed. I would think that a ride on a bus would allow you to check out how it would all work for you.
  2. You should be asking your local transit authorities. Unless you provide your location there is simply no way to tell. There are no universal rules for transporting bikes on public transit
